Saturday, April 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Workshop discussion on the ENERGY collection of materials - maps on the topic - violin music - news in the resonance room - open workshop
The upcoming program day at the Oderbruch Museum Altranft on 4 April will be charged with energy in various ways: with a workshop discussion, the presentation of a collection of materials, two exhibitions and a folk concert. This day marks the start of our 2026 ENERGY theme: a weighty topic that divides, but can also bring us together.
We start at 11 a.m. in the Yellow Salon with a workshop discussion on energy and landscape in the Oderbruch. Together with Oliver Ruch, EWE AG Board Representative for Brandenburg, and Martin Wiese, Head of the Building Authority of the municipality of Letschin, we will be asking about the prospects for energy supply in the Oderbruch. Do they lie in the expansion of energy production for the nationwide electricity market or in the development of decentralized energy systems? You are cordially invited to enrich the discussion.
At the beginning of the discussion, we will present the collection of materials „Energy and Oderbruch. Between economic dynamics and landscape order“. It provides an insight into the various facets and conflict situations of current energy production in the Oderbruch. If you like, you can take a look at the collection beforehand, it can be found at oderbruchmuseum.de/the-theme-of-the-year-2026-energy.
At 1 p.m., we will open the first exhibition on the annual theme in our map room in front of the Studiolo: Energy yesterday and today - five maps. Based on the Schmettauschen map series from the second half of the 18th century, we will take a look at the changes in energy infrastructure up to the present day. Where did wind and water mills once stand, where do wind turbines stand today? Where was oil extracted and peat mined? Where are biogas and ground-mounted photovoltaic plants located? The annotated maps provide an overview and invite viewers to add their own knowledge to them. The maps also trace the changes in other key infrastructure in the Oderbruch, rail connections, waterways, energy lines and much more.

Inspired by the conversation and the cards, it is worth visiting the resonance room, which we have rearranged for the topic of energy. There are some questions on the description table and we look forward to your answers.

A musical energy boost awaits you at 3 pm: German folk! With their violins and voices, the Tradtöchter Vivien Zeller and Ursula Suchanek bring together traditional dance melodies, German-language songs and original compositions. The arrangements are rocking, but at the same time both musicians are knee-deep in the centuries of folk music. Let yourself be recharged, because energy is more than electricity and without enough energy in body and mind, no future can be created.
An open painting and drawing workshop accompanies the day, including the opportunity to design magnets for the map room. And our new café operators will be happy to serve you.
We look forward to seeing you, your families and friends.
