Musical Reading on the Annual Theme of ENERGY – Photographs at the Bildersalon – Open Workshop Series

Event on November 7 featuring a musical reading: *The Uncomfortable Place in the Middle*
11 a.m.–5 p.m. at the museum's castle

This year, the Oderbruch Museum surveyed about 25 people about their experiences and perspectives on the topic of energy. Their accounts cover wind energy and solar power, conflicts during the planning process and among residents, hopes and disappointments regarding the energy transition, and the question of the significance of energy in our lives in general. These statements have now been woven together into a unified panorama in the form of a musical reading. At the center of the narrative is a regional planner who must translate the various demands and interests into a plan that complies with regulations, is confronted with a range of emotions in the process, and must uphold legal frameworks that he did not create.
The entertaining reading, featuring Jens-Uwe Bogadtke and Kenneth Anders with musical accompaniment by Sören Birke, will take place in the museum’s castle cellar. The premiere is on November 6 at 7 p.m., and the performance on November 7 will take place at 11 a.m.

On the day of the program, at 2:00 p.m., we will present photographic works by Michael Schreiber, who lives in the Oderbruch and in Berlin. „Disappearing: Houses in the Landscape“ is the title of his photo exhibition, which offers an insightful exploration of the Oderbruch. The vastness, the straight lines, and the open horizons of the Oderbruch create space for slowness, observation, and a closer look at the seemingly unremarkable. At the heart of this photographic work are abandoned buildings that have lost their original function over time. Roofs disappear, walls crumble, and trees and shrubs grow through the ruins. The boundaries between architecture and nature blur. What was once created by humans is gradually becoming part of the landscape. The photographs explore the quiet aesthetics of decay and raise questions about loss, memory, and the future.

Hands-On Energy: From 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., people of all ages are invited to participate in a series of open workshops. The Märkisch-Oderland Energy Office will be on hand with a thermal imaging camera and small technical experiments to explore energy in everyday life and help our guests better understand the topic of electricity.
