Photo Exhibition by the Borderland Photographers – Summer School Presentation – Open Cyanotype Workshop – Documentary Film
When it comes to generating electricity from wind, solar, and biogas in Germany, the Oderbruch region is at the very forefront. As the energy system changes, the landscape is transforming before everyone’s eyes, leading to controversy—in part because the power grid cannot accommodate all the electricity being generated. There is also a lot of talk about the electrification of everyday life—heat pumps, e-mobility, computing power, energy sharing, grid expansion, and storage technology—and less about energy conservation than there was just a few years ago.
As part of this year’s theme, ENERGY, we spoke with a good two dozen people about their experiences in the broad field of energy conditions in the Oderbruch region. Starting at 11 a.m., we’ll pick up these threads and explore them further in an open discussion in the castle park before opening the exhibition by the Grenzland photographers in the museum’s gallery. The group of photographers has compiled a brief overview of the Oderbruch’s energy landscape for the Oderbruch Museum. In the presence of the photographers, we will present 42 large-format black-and-white photographs: ranging from aerial views to technical subjects and portraits.
Following that, around 12:30 p.m., students from the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development will present the results of a four-day summer school that focused on heating in the Oderbruch region in all its diversity. Excerpts will be read from the many discussions that took place during the summer school; the workbenches in the gallery will be redesigned; and there may be a surprise or two of an artistic nature.
At 3:00 p.m., we will screen the 2013 documentary „Energieland“ by director Johanna Ickert in the Schlosskeller. The documentary explores the social conflicts surrounding carbon capture and storage (CCS)—a technology that is once again the subject of debate. The director will be in attendance.

From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., people of all ages are invited to an open workshop. Dive into the world of cyanotype! Heike Pander will show you how to use the power of the sun to create plant prints on paper.
