Church service - harvest festival - parade - colorful market hustle and bustle
October 4, 2026, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.! Altranft invites you to the German-Polish Harvest Festival, the village’s largest annual event, organized by the Oderbruch Museum Altranft in collaboration with the Altranft Traditions Association and many local partners.
The Harvest Festival has a long tradition in Altranft. Siegfried Siewert from Altranft/Zuckerfabrik writes in his memoirs from the late 1920s: „At noon, the parade set off through the village and ended at the field across from the castle. There were a few booths and attractions there.“ Over the years, the Harvest Festival has become a showcase for agriculture in the Oderbruch region and for local crafts. That’s why the Frankfurt (Oder) Chamber of Crafts—East Brandenburg Region is also participating, contributing to the stage program and featuring its own crafts alley at the regional market. Here, visitors can find bread and cakes fresh from the wood-fired oven, honey, vegetables, plants and seeds, knitted goods, pottery and wooden spoons, soap, as well as food and drinks from the region. Our blacksmith, Silvio Rademann, will also offer insights into his traditional craft.
For many years, this festival has also been a celebration of German and Polish culture. The Polish folk music group Kalina from Kobylanka will not only sing and play on stage, but will also take part in the popular parade, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the village green. Polish artist Hanka Billert is setting up a station for making dolls, and food and drinks will be served by Polish vendors. On stage, the band Windfalls will perform a fusion of Eastern European sounds and modern jazz. Brass band music from Schulzendorf will also be featured. In addition, we plan to conduct interviews with apprentices from the region who are pursuing careers in local trades or agriculture.
Children are invited to the interactive circus on the green field, presented by LaMule Cirque. The German-French troupe will also perform an acrobatic show based on the fairy tale *Rapunzel*. Harvest festivals are also church festivals. After the festive parade, the Oberbarnim-Nikolai parish therefore invites everyone to a church service at the church on the village green.
The museum is open to all visitors on this day.
Admission to the castle park costs €5 for adults; children get in free.
