Exhibition opening - Salon talk - News in the picture salon - Open workshop

As a contribution to the annual theme of ENERGY, we will be opening the exhibition „The Energy of the Body. A search for traces in the historical rural life of the Oderbruch“. While today we are debating society's energy requirements in the form of electrical energy, 100 years ago the physical power of humans and animals was still at the center of economic life in the countryside. Our exhibition, which was designed by Kenneth Anders, Antje Scholz and Doro Rüdrich, deals with this past significance. It is based on autobiographical memories from the local area around Altranft, such as those of Siegfried Siewart, who lived on a Loosegehöft farm between the sugar factory and Croustillier, Werner Großkopf, who recorded his memories of Altglietzen, Veit Templin, who worked as a master craftsman from Neulietzegöricke in the Oderbruch for a long time, Erwin Schuch, who spent his youth in Neutrebbin, and Christof Nickel, local chronicler in Altranft.Directly after the exhibition opening, we invite you to a salon talk. What is the significance of physical labor in today's society? What is the relationship to mechanical and animal labor? To what extent do people seek a balance in physical work? Do they perceive it more as toil and burden or as satisfaction? And what future do they see for the body's energy in modern society? These are questions that we would like to discuss with our guests in the yellow salon.

At 3 pm, we invite you to another exhibition opening in the picture salon. Under the title „ODERBRUCH Erinnern“ (Remembering the Oderbruch), photographs by Christine Radack from the 1980s will be on display. During this time, she and her husband bought a small old adobe house near the Oder and began to explore the Oderbruch. The pictures tell of this time. Christine Radack has lived and worked in Prerow, her birthplace, since 2006. „The photographer Christine Radack is an optimist,“ wrote the journalist Sabine Neubert in 2005, „a contemporary with a sense for beautiful old things and always new things.“
