Saturday, December 3
The Oderbruch Museum Altranft shows on Saturday 3 December results of its landscape education work and invites to a hike.
That the Altranfter Museum here and da goes beyond familiar museological ways of working should already become clear to visitors in the entrance hall. Here, snapshots show snapshots from the many other activities of the "Workshop for Rural Culture": plays, the designation of heritage sites, workshops and artistic interventions can be seen here and show a bustle of activity off the "normal" path. A mainstay in this work is rural education. Its staff will show the results of the current year 2022 on the first Saturday of December. After all, more than 1000 children have participated in the museum's offerings this year.
Impressions of the educational work at the museum (more on the program day)
At more than 15 stations on this day you will find the educational fruits of the year. For example, video installations will show short documentaries on heritage sites that were created with young people from the region, including a scary film and excerpts from a play performed by the Altranft daycare children. An exhibition shows collages from a vacation project. Also on display (and for sale) is the calendar created in an art project with four schools in the region. The Heimatarbeit exhibition, with the participation of many students, is on display in the museum workshop. To explain and classify everything, Nora Scholz, coordinator of Landscape Education at the museum, offers a guided tour starting at 1:30 pm.
Landscape, education and art - this is not a new connection. The painter and art educator Gilbert Waligora has introduced generations of children to an artistic approach to the landscape. Environmental journalist and book author Hartmut Sommerschuh has written a book about his work, "Watercolor in the Rain." In the salon conversation, he and art historian Iris Berndt, once a student of Waligora himself, will talk with Lars Fischer about understanding nature, art and landscape education.
As on all program days, the special workshop will be open on December 3: Throughout the day, inspired visitors can print postcards in two workshops and make animated films in the media workshop.
Punctual appearance at the start of the program day at 11am and sturdy shoes are recommended for those who want to get to know a special route through the Oderbruch landscape near Altranft. Benjamin Huster, a student from Eberswalde, created a short hike through various landscapes of the fracture as part of his internship at the museum. It goes through Altranft forests, the hilly landscape at the northwestern edge of the village and finally over the settlement back to the castle. Afterwards, mulled wine will be served in the castle park.
The musical embedding of the day takes place through SUBSYSTEM with Almut Schlichting and Sven Hinse from Berlin. The two low-frequency specialists with baritone saxophone and double bass explore the possibilities of their instruments in an imaginative, shrewd and virtuosic way - of course with echoes of Advent. The deep sounds of the large instruments, which are otherwise rarely heard individually, come into their own in this duo formation.
As always, admission is free, but a donation is requested.
