The annual exhibition on the theme of NEIGHBORHOOD

On July 5, 2025, we will open the annual exhibition on the topic of NEIGHBORHOOD at 11.00 a.m. in Altranft Castle, invite you to a presentation and reading from a neighborhood newspaper, show special wool works in the picture salon and inaugurate our advertising pillar in the park.

You are very welcome!

11.00 a.m.: From 11 a.m., an advertising pillar in the castle park will welcome you with quotes from the conversations we have held on the subject of NEIGHBORHOOD in the Oderbruch. After an open exchange with our discussion partners about their experiences and perspectives, we will open our annual exhibition in the gallery.
The focus is on a photo series by Alex Schirmer, which captures the range of neighborly relationships in the Oderbruch in the mirror of things and people. It is complemented by short films and audio pieces, books, pictures and texts in the annual theme module.

1 p.m.: On the workbenches in the gallery, students from the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences present the results of the NACHBARSCHAFTEN summer school and read from the freshly printed neighborhood newspaper that they are publishing for the day. The students were out and about in Hohensaaten, Neutrebbin, Letschin, Wriezen and Lebus and spoke to many people about what neighborliness means to them.

3 p.m.: The artist Kata Adamek, who was born in Opole on the Oder and lives in Berlin, is exhibiting large-format wool objects entitled "Meander" in the picture salon, some of which tell of the artist's connection to the Oder and other rivers where she lives or has lived. She writes: "When I think about these rivers, I think about the power they give me, other people, animals and plants. How ancient and generous they are. Equally ancient is the technique - felting - with which I have created large-scale wall sculptures/objects.

Felting takes place in the open museum workshop.

Admission is free!

Kata Adamek writes about her exhibition:

"My works selected for the exhibition 'Meander' at the Oderbruchmuseum tell a partly autobiographical story, some of them revolve around the theme of water.
They tell about my connection to the Oder River and other rivers where I live or have lived. When I think about these rivers, I think about the power they give me, other people, animals and plants. How ancient and generous they are. Equally ancient is the technique - felting - with which I have created large-scale wall sculptures/objects.
As far as the autobiographical aspect of my works is concerned, I try to extract a subjective, filtered essence from the past. For example in the work "The Sun" (diameter approx. 140 cm). It reflects the process of the destruction of one of my installations. The process of reconstruction and reparation - despite the difficulties, a self-sufficient sun has emerged. In the work 'W XIII - Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors' (approx. 130 cm long) my thoughts flow downstream - into the future, at the same time transporting the sediments of the past on the imaginary ground.

And so I invite you to immerse yourself in the world of the past, the present and the future. I look forward to the conversations during the vernissage.
