A musical journey from St. Mary's Church in Wriezen to the patron saint's church in Altranft

Wriezen was the undisputed capital of the Oderbruch before it was drained in the middle of the 18th century and is now officially the gateway to the Oderbruch. So there can be no better starting point from which to explore the European cultural heritage.

This year's CULTURE CYCLING is dedicated to four church buildings: St. Mary's Church in Wriezen, the replacement church in Altwriezen, the church of the free farmers in Altwustrow and the patron saint's church in Altranft. The designated cultural heritage sites are cycled over a distance of around 20 kilometers. Short guided tours and artistic interventions focus on the stories of the monuments.

We will be joined by solo cellist Nina Clarissa Frenzel. She will bring all four church buildings to life in small mini-concerts. The artist will play her own compositions, which will enchant and capture the buildings with lots of poetry and delicate, powerful sounds. Throughout the day, the results of the project "Strengthening digital storytelling - art meets church" can be experienced: a digital carpet tells stories, the parish of Neutornow reports on itself in a film, a small quiz asks "Can you hear which bell is ringing?" and photos give an impression of remarkable objects that can be seen in the churches of the cultural heritage network.

The tour starts at 11 a.m. at the Marienkirche Wriezen and ends at 4 p.m. at the patron saint's church in Altranft. The offer is free of charge. You are responsible for your own catering during the entire tour and you are responsible for your own return journey. Coffee and cake are available in the cafeteria in the Oderbruch Museum, opposite the Altranft church.
