The Oderbruch in the world - the world in the Oderbruch

COLAGE

People make landscape - this could also be the title of this small world revue about the Oderbruch, which we are staging at the Oderbruch Museum on November 1.

People from many regions of the world have worked in the Oderbruch and left their mark, and quite a few people from the Oderbruch have gone out into the world and made an impact there. The list is illustrious and includes the political activist and co-founder of the Green Party Rudolf Bahro, the naturalist and circumnavigator Adlabert von Chamisso, the pop singers Cornielia Froboes and Monika Herz, the poet Gottfried Benn, Chancellor Theobald Theodor Friedrich Alfred von Bethmann Hollweg, the head of government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Manuela Schwesig, the poet Berta Lask, the cosmonaut Sigmund Jähn, the doctor Nobutsugu Koenuma, the agronomist and farmer Albrecht Daniel Thear and many more. Initial research has brought together over 50 personalities from the fields of science, art, culture, politics, police and medicine.
In the performance, around 50 objects related to these personalities of contemporary history, some painted or drawn, some collected, are arranged into a multifaceted exhibition. The result is a narrative about the Oderbruch in the world and the world in the Oderbruch, which promises to provide the audience with many ideas - including about how people from many different countries have helped to shape this landscape.
An artist's book reflects and presents the work in an independent way and offers guests informative reading about the exhibition.
The exhibition in the dining room will also be on display from November 1 during opening hours in the coming season. The performance designed by Kenneth Anders, Lars Fischer and Antje Scholz will be available for performance at other locations from 2026 on request.
