Photos and texts on the annual theme - the boat of obstinacy - salon talk - new in the picture salon - music - salon talk - open workshop offer

"Self-sufficiency / resistance / tradition-conscious" - these and other facets of rural obstinacy can be read as white writing crisscrossing an old Oder barge. The program office's installation will be unveiled at 11 a.m. on July 3 to kick off the program day. "Our annual theme is turning out to be extraordinarily multi-layered," program director Kenneth Anders enthuses. "Rural stubbornness arises in confrontation with resources, it makes one resistant to fashions and ideologies, and it preserves many a thing that would otherwise have long since passed away. So the old barge is a good path into the theme. It has been carefully restored and now floats opposite the castle like a small miracle."

The core project of each annual theme is the interviews that authors and journalists conduct with a wide variety of people from the Oder region in order to let them have their own say in a workshop book at the end of the year. These interviewees are invited to a public open-air salon discussion about society and obstinacy, which will take place in the castle park from 11:30 am.

Children and young people can also get on the trail of obstinacy artistically. Starting at 12 p.m., portraits and audio recordings of Oderbrüchern will be created under the guidance of two artists.

Visitors can discover more news in the picture gallery on the first floor. Here, the latest works by photographers Stefan Schick and Michael Anker are on display, which also form a search for clues to the year's theme. A multimedia module with a screen, audio recordings, notebooks and books invites visitors to do research, and quotes from Oderbruch people can be read on the tables in the café.

In the afternoon, another vernissage is planned at 3 pm. On display will be the series "Bruch Köpfe" by photographer Jörg Hannemann, an exhibition of idiosyncratic portraits of older people from the Oderbruch. In the Bildersalon right next door, four new works on the Oderbruch are on display, a drawing by Bettina Männel, a collage by Monique Schramm, a linocut by Waldemar Gewand and an oil painting by Erna Roder.

Musically, this day will be accompanied by an organ grinder. Admission is free, as on all program days.
