An alphabet of the neighborhood

Exhibition opening of the photo art project on September 13 at 3 p.m. in the Altlangsow school and prayer house

Filmmaker and photographer Sarah Sandring writes about this partner project: "The Neighborhood Alphabet" is a photo art project with schoolchildren in cooperation with the Altlangsow School and Prayer House. What answers do you get when you ask young people from the Oderbruch region about their experience of neighborhood and have them photograph it? An alphabet of a different kind - unsparing, personal, critical, poetic. An alphabet in photographs - from A for arrival to Z for discord."

Over the course of four days, she will work with pupils from the Gymnasium auf den Seelower Höhen on their stories, thoughts and associations relating to the annual theme of neighborhood. The media chosen for this workshop are: Instant photography, writing on image. Personal texts and interviews frame the works.

The workshop will take place in July. The exhibition "The Neighborhood Alphabet" will open on Saturday, September 13 at 3 p.m. in the Altlangsow School and Prayer House and will be on display until October 12.

This photo shows what the individual letters of the neighborhood's alphabet might look like. As soon as the entire alphabet has been presented in Altlangsow, it will also be shown here. The picture is part of the series ERBEN DES FORTSCHRITTS, which Sarah Sandring realized with participants of an international summer university. The motif is the church in Gessin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Photo: Dominika Dudzik, illustration unknown.
