Europabrücke Audio Workshop

A late summer day in the border region. The summer vacation has almost lost its initial appeal, but the new school year is still a long way off. It’s hot, but after a brief downpour, the weather isn’t unpleasant in this place called Oderaue. Not far from Bienenwerder and Neurüdnitz, and just a few minutes by bike from the famous Zollbrücke, eight elementary school kids of various ages on summer break „arm“ themselves with recording devices and set out to explore this steel behemoth known as the Europabrücke. They bring the bridge to life with sound, describe what they see and feel, and even capture the voices of tourists, visitors, and the mayor of this community. The result is an audio collage of sounds, thoughts, and a small glimpse into the children’s world of experience—here at a special place in the Oderbruch, a site of cultural heritage.
