Church in the Oderbruch

Church - a lively and public space

In close cooperation with the parish of Letschin and the Letschiner Heimatverein e. V., the Letschiner Heimatstuben use the example of the church in Kienitz to show that a church can be more than just an institution and a building. In Kienitz, it not only serves as a place of worship, it is also a home, a designated cycle path church, houses the "Himmel & Erde" café and is the focus of various cultural events. For example, the Kirchberg Festival takes place every year in September. There is a parish church choir and a trombone choir.

With the establishment of the Kienitz church as a meeting place, the concerns of the dedicated pastor's wife and painter Erna Roder (1916-2007) have been taken into account,
to promote cooperation between people. By selling her pictures and calendars, she ensured the structural preservation of the church.

Visitors can experience the diversity of the Kienitz church at the September 7, 2024 from 2 p.m. experience. Dr. Schmook from the Oderland Museum will report on the history of the "Churches in the Oderbruch". The trombone and church choirs will provide the musical accompaniment. Visits to the church, where works by Erna Roder can be admired, as well as an exchange of ideas over coffee and cake are possible.

The Open Monument Day on September 8, 2024 is also dedicated to the annual theme of CHURCH in the Letschiner Heimatstuben. Horst Drewing (photographer) and Wolfram-Werner Kipsch (painter) from Frankfurt (Oder) will open the exhibition at
14 Clock their joint exhibition "Mysterious checkerboard stones on medieval churches on both sides of the Oder".
