Forge and depot in presentation mode between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The smithy of Altranft farrier Ernst Charlé was one of four blacksmiths in our village. A blacksmith has recently started working here again, so that the old craft can be experienced again and again at this historic location.
To mark the occasion, our curator Antje Scholz has revised the entire exhibition and added many helpful explanations about the tools and the tradition of the profession. Visitors can now find out which typical tools are used, why a horse's hooves need special care in the first place and which work processes need to be observed during shoeing.
Farrier Silvio Rademann will also be on site on this day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will certainly be demonstrating one or two work steps.
Since 2016, the museum's offices have been housed in the blacksmith's yard alongside the craft depots. In the attractive rooms of the former carpentry workshop, everything is well organized in heavy-duty shelves, which are closed with sliding doors made of wood donated by the Oderbrucht carpentry and joinery workshops. On this day, our collection supervisors will be happy to show you how and what is collected here.
Admission to the smithy is free
